Eugenia ventenatii – Lilly Pilly Hedge
A striking new variety of Lilly Pilly, Eugenia ventenatii is a fast-growing, dense evergreen ideal for privacy hedging. New growth emerges a brilliant crimson red, maturing to a glossy deep green, adding vibrant colour and year-round interest to your garden. Clip 2–3 times per year to maintain shape and control height.
Ideal for: Privacy screening, formal hedging
Position: Full sun
Planting distance (for hedging): 0.75m apart
Soil: Free-draining, rich in organic matter
Planting tips: Dig a hole at least twice as wide and deep as the root ball.
Mix compost and sheep pellets into the backfill.
In heavy soils, loosen the sides of the hole and incorporate gypsum to improve drainage.

Plant at soil level and water deeply.

Care:

Keep well-watered through summer, especially while establishing.

Prune early and regularly to encourage a dense, bushy form.
Apply a balanced fertiliser every few years to maintain health and vigour.
